Dr. Akshara Kaginalkar

Dr. Akshara Kaginalkar is a Professor of Practice at Atria University, Bengaluru, engaged in interdisciplinary research at the Centre for Climate Change. Her focus areas include urban environment, weather, climate systems, energy, and environmental sustainability through high-performance computing and participatory science.
With over 30 years of experience, Dr. Kaginalkar previously served as Senior Director at C-DAC, a premier R&D institute under the Government of India. She led a number of cross-sector national and international projects in parallel processing, smart cities, weather, air quality, hydrology, renewable energy, agriculture, and defence, translating scientific insights into scalable decision services. She steered the development of Panorama, a ‘Make-In-India Marine weather decision support system for the Indian Navy deployed across IN ships.
Dr. Kaginalkar represented India at global platforms, including Supercomputing, Indo_US, EU-India conferences, UNESCO/IAEA technical meetings on AI for Water Management and Isotope Hydrology in Vienna , and the UNESCO “Open Hydrology” seminar. Her Ph.D. in urban air quality management blends environmental modeling, emerging technologies, and FAIR data principles to support sustainable smart cities. She has a number of publications in international journals and holds a US patent for Atmospheric Data Compression.
At Atria University, she continues her mission of science for societal good, driving interdisciplinary sustainability solutions using climate informatics.
