Dr. Akshara Kaginalkar is a Professor of Practice at Atria University, Bengaluru, engaged in interdisciplinary research at the Centre for Climate Change. Her focus areas include urban environment, weather, climate systems, energy, and environmental sustainability through high-performance computing and participatory science.
With over 30 years of experience, Dr. Kaginalkar previously served as Senior Director at C-DAC, a premier R&D institute under the Government of India. She led a number of cross-sector national and international projects in parallel processing, smart cities, weather, air quality, hydrology, renewable energy, agriculture, and defence, translating scientific insights into scalable decision services. She steered the development of Panorama, a ‘Make-In-India Marine weather decision support system for the Indian Navy deployed across IN ships.
Dr. Kaginalkar represented India at global platforms, including Supercomputing, Indo_US, EU-India conferences, UNESCO/IAEA technical meetings on AI for Water Management and Isotope Hydrology in Vienna , and the UNESCO “Open Hydrology” seminar. Her Ph.D. in urban air quality management blends environmental modeling, emerging technologies, and FAIR data principles to support sustainable smart cities. She has a number of publications in international journals and holds a US patent for Atmospheric Data Compression.
At Atria University, she continues her mission of science for societal good, driving interdisciplinary sustainability solutions using climate informatics.
Dr. Radha Shivaramaiah is an Assistant Professor in the School of Energy Sciences & eMobility at Atria University. Her work at AU lies at the intersection of sustainable materials, clean energy technologies, and circular economy. She has over a decade of academic and industrial research experience, her expertise includes inorganic synthesis, structure-property relationship, materials for electro catalysis & energy storage, critical materials, and green hydrogen production.
She holds a Ph.D. in Materials Chemistry and has led interdisciplinary projects on critical materials extraction, glass waste valorization, structure solution and carbon nanotubes sorting & their applications. Her work at AU focuses on extraction of critical elements from waste, lithium-ion battery recycling and development of reversible hydrogen fuel cells, aimed at enabling decentralized hydrogen generation.
Before joining Atria University, Dr. Radha held research and engineering positions at University of California Davis and Saint-Gobain research contributing to innovation in material sustainability.

Dr. Purnima Jalihal is a renowned ocean energy expert and former Head of the Energy and Fresh Water Group at the National Institute of Ocean Technology (NIOT), India. She has led innovations in wave, marine current, and ocean thermal energy (OTEC), and played a key role in developing ocean thermal desalination.
She holds a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from Duke University, USA, and has received several honors, including the Vishwakarma Medal (2006) and the Uehara Prize (2019) for her contributions to ocean energy technologies.
Dr. Jalihal has served on various national and international committees, including as Vice Chair of the IEA’s Ocean Energy Systems (OES) and Chair of BIS Mirror Committee ETD-54. She was India’s Mission Innovation Champion in 2020 and was featured in CNBC TV18’s Future Female Forward event in 2023.
She now serves as Professor of Practice at Atria University, where she leads the Water-Energy Nexus Laboratory.
Dr. Homen Lahan is a Research Scientist at the Centre of Excellence in Battery Engineering, Atria University, where he focuses on advancing next-generation battery chemistries for practical applications. He earned his Ph.D. in Physics from Tezpur University, India, specializing in electrode materials for rechargeable aqueous aluminum-ion batteries. After completing his doctorate, he pursued postdoctoral research at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) as a D.S. Kothari Fellow in the Solid-State and Structural Chemistry Unit. Dr. Lahan also gained industry experience as a Battery Development Manager at Chakr Innovation Pvt. Ltd., a clean-tech startup, for over two years. In 2018, he served as a Visiting Research Fellow at Forschungszentrum Jülich, Germany, under the DST-ITS scheme. Alongside his research, he is actively involved in teaching and mentoring the students.
Dr. Kristi Kabyashree serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Life Sciences at Atria University. She earned her Ph.D. from Tezpur University, Assam, and subsequently conducted postdoctoral research at the National Institute of Plant Genome Research (NIPGR), New Delhi.

Dr. Saurabh Mahajan is an Associate Professor of Biology and heads the Atria Centre of Excellence in Life Sciences at Atria University. He holds a Ph.D. in Biology from the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR), Mumbai.

Dr. Anand Ramani is the Program Director for eMobility at Atria University, bringing over 25 years of experience in the automotive, aerospace, engineering, and consulting sectors. He holds a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Virginia Tech (1996).
Early in his career, Dr. Ramani specialized in Structural Dynamics and Vibrations, Noise, Vibration, and Harshness (NVH), and Finite Element Analysis. His later interests evolved to include Design Optimization, Vehicle Dynamics, and AI/ML techniques. Driven by a strong passion for research and advanced technology development, he has held both technical and leadership roles at organizations such as Mahindra & Mahindra, Infosys, Honeywell, General Motors, General Electric, and Applied Materials. Most recently, he served as Head of Technology Development at Jukshio Technology Innovation, an AI/ML startup focused on eKYC applications and related products.

He earned his M.Tech in Renewable Energy from AcSIR-CSIR and has submitted his PhD thesis in Power & Energy Systems at IIT Kharagpur. Most recently, Stella served as a Research Associate at University of Hyderabad, where she worked on modeling the Indian summer monsoon and its variability over the last millennium. Prior to this, she was awarded the Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB) National Post Doctoral Fellowship, during which she researched future changes in extreme rainfall events during the Indian summer monsoon using CMIP6 models.

After completing his masters in Chemistry, Dr. Acharya has completed his Ph.D. in theoretical and computational Physics in the domain of classical Newtonian dynamics. He has studied the dynamics of tiny tracers in the crowded environments. The study can be applied on varieties of systems like colloid beads in lipid tubes, nanospheres in entangled actin, biopolymer filaments or zeolites.

Varsha is an educator with a growing interest in transdisciplinary computing. With a Master’s in Education from Harvard University and a B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering, she integrates her diverse skills into teaching and researching introductory Computer Science courses. Most recently, she was part of the teaching team for CS50, Harvard University’s suite of introductory Computer Science and programming courses. Her research publications focus on constructionist Scratch education and programming environments for novice programmers. Her work with the nonprofit Sitara Akka over the past four years has been deeply influential, both academically and personally. She is dedicated to improving access to and success in STEM education for students in rural India. Varsha brings her commitment to inclusive, effective computing education and enthusiasm for advancing project-based and transdisciplinary teaching and learning methods to Atria University.
