Additionally, he has supervised the successful completion of PhD degrees for two candidates, with two more thesis submissions under his guidance.
Dr. Singh’s expertise extends to organizing and leading short-term training programs. conferences, symposiums, and workshops, while also holding prestigious professional affiliations such as being a Fellow of IE(India) and a Chartered Engineer, as well as being a Senior Member of IEEE and IIIE. Additionally, he serves on the editorial and advisory boards of several international journals and acts as a reviewer for reputable journals. His research interests span a wide range of topics, including Smart Grid, power system restructuring, power quality, integration of Distributed Energy Resources (DERs), demand- side management, electric vehicle technologies, and power system stability. Dr. H S Prashantha is a distinguished figure in academia and research with expertise in Signal and Image Processing, Remote Sensing and AI & Machine Learning. He holds an advanced certification in Data Science and A1 from IIT Madras, a PhD in Signal Processing algorithms from Anna University Chennai, and a BE and MTech in Electronics and Communication Engineering. With over 25 years of experience, Dr. Prashantha has
mentored over 180 1-JG, PG, and PhD students.
He has served in India’s most esteemed institutes and universities, including PES Institute of Technology, UVCE Bangalore, and Nitte Meenakshi Institute of Technology, contributing as a Doctoral Committee Member and participating in various academic councils and committees and he holds distinguished memberships in the IEEE Signal Processing Society, IEEE Sensor Council, and IEEE-CEDA. Mr. Dinker G Mattam is a seasoned professional who has worked at the intersection of Machine Learning and Finance including investment banking and private equity. In his most recent avatar, he was the founder and CEO of Volsquare Algos, a cutting-edge startup that built deep learning models to forecast highly stochastic variables in capital markets.
Mr. Dinker’s past roles have included Expert Data Scientist at Hewlett Packard Enterprise, Advisor, Data Sciences at DXC Technology, and Vice President, Quantitative Analytics at Decimal Point Analytics. Dr. Ravi Kumar is an Associate Professor at Atria University in the Department of Energy Science. He holds a PhD in Electrochemistry from Newcastle University, UK. His research expertise lies in electrochemical energy systems, such as fuel cells, electrolysers, and batteries, which are vital for greener and cleaner energy solutions. He has over 10 years of academic and industrial experience and has published 50 research articles in international peer-reviewed journals.
His research at Atria University focuses on novel electrode materials for rechargeable metal-ion and metal-air batteries. Additionally, his industrial experience in water electrolysis for green hydrogen generation is a key area of research at Atria University for renewable power utilization.
Dr. Usha K. Hasyagar is a Research Scientist with more than 7 years of specialized experience in climate modeling, data analysis, and visualization. She has worked extensively with climate models, as well as ground-based and satellite datasets. Her expertise spans regional-scale weather, air-quality modeling, aerosol-climate interactions, and hydro-meteorological extremes.
Dr. Usha’s most recent role was as a Project Scientist-I at the Centre for Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences, Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru. During her tenure, she investigated the impact of stratospheric aerosol injection geo-engineering on monsoon rainfall and streamflow using NCAR’s global climate model (CESM).
Previously, she served as a Research Fellow at the Space Physics Laboratory, Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre, where she fine-tuned and validated a regional climate model (RegCM) with a variety of meteorological and aerosol datasets. Her work included performing statistical analyses and visualizations, leading to 7 publications and presentations at several international and national conferences. She also studied the role of aerosols in snowmelt and runoff extremes over the Himalayas, and investigated aerosol-boundary layer interactions contributing to the amplification of South Asian haze and air quality deterioration.
Dr. Usha holds a PhD in Atmospheric Science from Kerala University, obtained in May 2023. She also has an MSc in Physics from the National Institute of Technology Karnataka.
Dr. Stella Jes Varghese is a committed climate scientist with extensive expertise in climate change and monsoon variability. She completed her PhD in Science from CSIR Fourth Paradigm Institute, Bengaluru under AcSIR. Stella holds an MSc in Ocean and Atmospheric Sciences from University of Hyderabad. She earned her BSc in Physics Honours from St. Stephen’s College, University of Delhi.
Most recently, Stella served as a Research Associate at University of Hyderabad, where she worked on modeling the Indian summer monsoon and its variability over the last millennium. Prior to this, she was awarded the Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB) National Post Doctoral Fellowship, during which she researched future changes in extreme rainfall events during the Indian summer monsoon using CMIP6 models.
Her research interests include global climate modeling, climate change projections, extreme weather events, monsoon variability, and impact assessment. She has published several research articles and contributed to book chapters on climate change and its impacts. She is also an active peer-reviewer for many journals.
Grown up in Tagore’s own place Santiniketan Dr. Sayantan Acharya believes in the pedagogy of interdisciplinary nature of knowledge combining both science and art.
After completing his masters in Chemistry, Dr. Acharya has completed his Ph.D. in theoretical and computational Physics in the domain of classical Newtonian dynamics. He has studied the dynamics of tiny tracers in the crowded environments. The study can be applied on varieties of systems like colloid beads in lipid tubes, nanospheres in entangled actin, biopolymer filaments or zeolites.
Dr. Acharya is currently collaborating with BCAM institute of Applied Mathematics in Spain and investigating on the non Gaussianity of the Fickian particles. His works are published in international peer reviewed publishing houses like AIP and ACS publications.
Dr. Acharya has a strong inclination to arts, especially towards Photography and Filmmaking. He was the cardholder of NCL Photography club, Film Club and creative writing club in CSIR NCL. He is one of the members of Bengal’s first audiozine Ropan.
Dr. Acharya is an independent film maker and has created or collaborated in more than 15 short films, documentaries or features. He is the co-director of Ridley Scott and Anurag Kashyap Produced “India in a Day (2016)” and “Life in a Day (2020)”. Dr. Acharya has represented India in international water summit Budapest on 2019-20 and he was an invited speaker in International TV and journalism festival to save and preserve Russia for his documentary “Geography of Drought (2018)”. He was associated and collaborated with Bluebird Moving Stories, Pune for a long time. For his international success and extensive work on Maharashtrian drought for the documentary he became a TEDx influencer in 2019.
Mr. Nishchith B S. currently serving as Assistant Professor in Battery Engineering at Atria University, has a rich background in academia. Previously, os a Teaching Assistant at Dayananda Sagar University’s Department of Physics, he undertook diverse responsibilities. Mr. Sheikh Suhail Mohammad is a distinguished senior microgrid researcher and consultant, boasting a wealth of experience exceeding 7 years in microgrid research, design, and analysis. With a Ph.D. in microgrids from the National Institute of Technology Srinagar, Dr. Sheikh Suhail’s academic background includes a Master’s degree in Power Systems and a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Renewable Energy Engineering. Sheikh Suhail collaborated on a project titled “Transition towards clean, affordable and reliable electricitym the renewable energy-based distributed generation resources for residential building electrification, which successfully secured funding of INR 589000 from JKSTIC, Department of Science and Technology.
