
Dr. Balamurali G. S

Dr. Balamurali G. S. is an Associate Professor at Atria University with expertise in microbiology, animal cognition, and evolutionary biology. His research explores how environmental changes, including climate change and anthropogenic stressors, affect animal decision-making and behavior, particularly in insect pollinators.
After earning his Master’s in Microbiology, he gained industry experience before transitioning to academia at IISER Thiruvananthapuram. He completed his PhD in collaboration with the University of Exeter, focusing on learning and behavior in social bees. His postdoctoral research took him to Lund University, Sweden, and Newcastle University, UK, where he studied sensory ecology and the effects of stress on bee cognition.
With an interdisciplinary background, Dr. Balamurali brings a unique perspective to research and education at Atria University.
