    Atria University is seeking full time faculty to teach courses in our Digital Transformation major. We seek applicants with an appreciation for real-world applications in engineering and applied sciences, and hands-on learning. The contract will be for 3-5 years, starting before March 2022 for the 2021-2022 academic year.

    As a faculty member in the Digital Transformation major, you are expected to have mastery over some or all of the topics listed below:

    • Digitalization of core business processes
    • Data analytics and other technologies that aid digitalization
    • VR /AR, AI/ML, Blockchain, RPA or other cutting edge technologies related to Big Data
    • Embedded systems, networking and wireless systems, Cloud, Sensors, M2M communication, IoT, RPA, Security and other technologies related to Connected Systems

    Basic Topics

    You will be expected to oversee and deliver the Exploratory Project in Digital Transformation for Foundation Year students. You must be familiar with the following topics:

    • Digitalization of core business processes
    • Software development methodologies (Agile, CI/CD)
    • Software project planning & management
    • UI/UX design
    • Front-end tech (HTML, JavaScript, CSS)
    • Middleware & Back-end technologies
    • Programming languages (preferably Python / React.js / Node.js)

    Advanced Topics

    You will have the opportunity to create and teach more advanced courses from year 2 onwards, and to devise interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary course offerings combining learning goals from other fields.

    Work Expectations

    Initially, faculty members are expected to be engaged as follows:

    • 70% time in teaching and student mentoring
    • 20% time in research/consulting
    • 10% time in service commitments to the University

    This break-up of time commitments will change as the university grows.

    Each course has faculty expectations of the equivalent of 10 teaching hours per week, with a minimum of 20 hours a week for students to engage in self-directed and open-ended work. You are expected to remain available to students and to direct their activities / research, but not to perform any conventional classroom teaching during those times. Additional contact hours may be spent on mentoring students or assisting guest faculty to facilitate courses.

    Faculty will play an active role as mentors for student projects. All full-time faculty serve as student advisers. We expect our faculty to participate in building growing our University. There will be opportunities to serve in administrative and senior positions with appropriate course release or other compensation.

    When not teaching, you will have the opportunity to work on your own research or consult for the industry.

    Qualification & Experience

    Required

    • Masters or equivalent postgraduate degree
    • Capacity/experience for working with unconventional pedagogies
    • Undergraduate level teaching and/or mentoring experience
    • Collaborative teaching/research
    • Desire to conduct active research/consulting/performance in addition to teaching in your chosen field

    Desired

    • Interdisciplinary teaching/learning
    • Curriculum development and design experience
    • Student-centred learning
    • Experience in integrative learning environments
    • Experience in leading learning programs
    • Ph.D. or the equivalent highest degree in your relevant fields

    Compensation
