Dr. Venktaesh has taught at UPenn since 1986. His research interests have spanned a variety of areas but have generally focused on fundamental problems in probability, information theory, machine learning, and neural computation. He is currently working on understanding the risk of contagion in massive, interconnected financial systems, information diffusion in social networks, the fundamental limits of semi-supervised machine learning, improving medical diagnostics in oncology using automated machine learning methods, next-generation vehicle-to-vehicle communication-equipped transportation networks, and information measures in genomics. He is the author of “The Theory of Probability: Explorations and Applications.”
