Globally climate change is driving a major transition towards renewable and efficient energy sources. However, using renewable sources has its own challenges. The Energy Sciences major at Atria University will train and prepare you to contribute meaningfully to this crucial transition. The training and skills provided will cover all critical areas in the energy industries of the future and develop the leaders of this emerging field.
This major is designed to create individuals who can understand and tackle specific problems associated with renewable energy technologies, energy storage, energy data analytics, energy policy, and environmental regulation. The program first provides a strong foundation in the principles of energy sciences, followed by a broad overview of technology applications in the renewable energy industry. The courses in this major will draw on concepts from electrical, electronics and mechanical engineering, basic physics and chemistry, with a focus on renewable energy systems. Projects may include observing, studying and designing renewable power plant installations, performance testing, and analysing energy installations for real-world applications. Building a prototype for a solar thermal power unit.
Creating a blueprint for a wind farm.
Investigating the performance of a utility-scale solar PV plant on site.
Producing electricity and testing the operation of a Concentrated Solar Power (CSP) plant on site.
Producing electricity and testing the operation of a wind farm on site.
Running a social intervention to power houses with solar energy.
